    Current Statistics

THIS DAY Nov. 7th 1980

A number of places in southern England had an early snow cover at observation time 09.00hrs.  The snow in Coulsdon, Surrey lay around 2cm deep but this was the earliest of the century in area. On the higher parts of the North Downs the max was only 2C. There were similar low temperatures in 1901 but this was due to persistent fog.

What an end to October. Last year I was photographing snow scenes and  this year the mercury was up to 16.5C on the 29th/30th.

Has anybody taken any pictures of the NE Scotland floods. I would like to see any for inclusion in Weather eye.  Please contact me if you have or know someone who has.

A sunny morning with excellent visibility and a great time to get out and about and also at first during the afternoon too but there is a threat of a shower to the west and south west of London PM and this threat looks like increasing later in the day and during the evening and night. However places to the north of London may stay dry. Feeling rather cool in the 10 mph west wind with a high of 11C though the degree or so lower on the Downs and Chilterns will mean you will need to wrap up warm here.

Some of the showers later in the day and overnight could have some hail with the greatest threat of a heavy one close to tthe south coast. North of the Chilterns there could well be a touch of grass frost with a low here of 2C to 3C but more like 5C to 6C over Sussex and south Kent. Some showers on Sunday but again quite a few places may stay dry and bright.
